In partnership with Channel 4, the E.ON Next team set out to drive real change. The aim was simple: make sustainability feel accessible and achievable for families across the UK using humour, honesty and hope.
The result was ‘The Secret Lives of 5-Year-Olds: The Next Generation’. A five-part, social-first series that tackled rising eco-anxiety through entertainment.
The climate crisis affects everyone. Yet the conversation is often dominated by fear, especially for young people. This series flipped the narrative. Using playful experiments, expert insight and the unfiltered honesty of children, it showed that small everyday actions can make a real difference.
The response was huge.
22 million people tuned in.
Among children aged 4–11:
89% said they learnt they could make a difference.
88% said they would try to use less energy.
Adults responded too:
83% believed the series could drive societal change.
85% realised that saving energy can actually be fun.
